Clockwork «Luch-3045»
Belarusian watchmakers have tried to keep up with world manufacturers. In the 1970s, new types of watches appeared worldwide – electromechanical and electronic – offering higher accuracy and no need for daily winding. The Minsk Watch Plant was among the first in the USSR to research and design such models. In December 1964, an order was issued to set up electromechanical watch production. In 1971, prototypes of the «Luch-3045» were made – electromechanical watches with a balance motor. Small-scale production started in 1973.
Clockwork «Luch-3055»
The «Luch-3055» was a men’s electromechanical wristwatch with a balance motor whose oscillations were regulated by a quartz stabilizer. In 1974, a trial batch of details and connecting parts was made for watches with a central seconds hand, shock protection, and a quick-set double date. The model underwent testing at the USSR Research Institute of Watchmaking. Preparations for production continued in 1975–1976, and state trials took place in April 1977. By the end of that year, 2.350 pieces were completed, and in 1978 output reached 49.000. For the 1980 Olympics, 14 new «Luch» designs with Olympic symbols were created, including red and green desktop clocks with a double date display (8).
