Clockwork «Luch-1809»
Demand for small women’s watches dropped sharply, and larger models became fashionable. In 1965, work began on a new women’s watch with an accuracy of ± 30 seconds per day, matching the 1st class standard for mechanical watches. This led to the creation of the «Luch-1809» – an 18 mm mechanism with a central seconds hand and shock protection. At the time, no similar watches were made in the country, and the design met international standards. Mass production began in 1968, and from 1977 the watches carried the state «Quality Mark».

The«Luch-1809» became the base for later models:
1. «Luch-1814» – with a date display
2. «Luch-1815» – withself-winding mechanism,
3. «Luch-1816» – with both date and self-winding mechanism
Production of the «Luch-1814» with date display began in 1969, with 1.212 pieces made that year. In 1972, the «Luch-1815» with self-winding mechanism appeared, and the first «Luch-1816» watches with date and self-winding mechanism were also released in 1972.
The Minsk Watch Factory’s watches were shown at many industrial exhibitions of the time. In 1974, at the Leipzig Fair, the factory presented the «Luch-1816». Its high accuracy, quick-set date, self-winding mechanism and modern design drew much attention. For this achievement, the «Luch-1816» was awarded a Diploma and a Gold Medal (7). The model was in high demand of women both the USSR and for abroad.
